Ask the Expert: Implemented Standard Practice

The Ticket to Ride process for communication has been so successful that the hospitals are evaluating next steps to incorporate the process in other hand-offs between caregivers, such as the Catheterization Lab. Kassab utilizes unit and department rounds as an opportunity to educate staff one-to-one on improving patient care through communication.  She’ll often ask staff “how do you know a patient is not at risk for fall?” Kassab explained that by sharing this communication success story, the other hospitals within the 14-hospital health system in California and Texas are also interested in incorporating Ticket to Ride.
